 Benesse Corporation announced that it has repurchased its own shares, pursuant to Article 211-3-1-(2) of the Commercial Code of Japan.

Details of repurchase:
Period of repurchase: Between November 11, 2004 and December 16, 2004
Aggregate number of shares repurchased:787,300 shares
Aggregate repurchase amount: 2,638,338,000 yen
Method of repurchase: Shares were repurchased on the Osaka Securities Exchange


1.The following details were resolved at the Board of Directors meeting held on November 10, 2004:
Type of shares: Common stock
Aggregate number of shares to be repurchased: Up to 870,000 shares
Aggregate repurchase amount: Up to 2,800 million yen

2.The number of treasury stock and aggregate repurchase amount as of November 30, 2004:
Treasury stock: 3,051,283 shares
Aggregate repurchase amount:6,962,727,405 yen
