Benesse Holdings, Inc.

Release Date : 2004/07/09

Benesse Corporation and subsidiary Berlitz Japan, Inc. have signed a deal with the Young Entrepreneurs'Organization, Japan (YEO Japan) to provide personnel training programs supervised by Globis Corporation.

Background
Since its establishment, YEO Japan has offered and run a range of educational programs to help grow the businesses of its members, support personal development and build business networks. However, with rapid globalization in recent years, there is a growing need for language training courses to help business people become more effective on the global stage, through improved communication at international business meetings, stronger negotiating abilities with overseas business leaders and other skills.

Against this backdrop, the current and eighth president of YEO Japan, Noboru Hachimine, has advocated the need for language training courses as part of efforts to foster the next generation of global business leaders. Benesse and Berlitz Japan have been awarded a comprehensive contract to supply these courses to YEO Japan, underpinned by their track record of international support for people and companies through businesses such as Benesse's Global Test of English Communication (GTEC) and Berlitz's international network of around 500 language centers in 60 countries. The contract covers everything from planning and development to actual course operation. These training courses will not only seek to enhance the language skills of Japanese business people, they will also include a unique curriculum supervised by Globis that uses cross-cultural lectures and other methods to improve international communication and management skills.

The deal with YEO Japan, an organization representing some of Japan's leading young entrepreneurs, gives impetus to moves by Benesse and Berlitz Japan to expand the customer base for their education and training services business. Benesse will also explore the possibility of a future tie-up with Globis in the personnel training support field.
