New Course in Benesse Advanced Educational Techniques Launched at University of Tokyo
Release Date : 2004/03/29
On April 1, 2004, a new course in Benesse Advanced Educational Techniques got underway at the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies, Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo, following an endowment from Benesse Corporation. Positioning this course as part of its research and development activities in its education business, which includes well-known brands such as the Shinkenzemi home study correspondence courses, Benesse believes it can use the results of joint research to create a range of new educational services tailored to future needs.
Working closely with the graduate school, Benesse plans to use the course to examine educational environments, such as e-learning, mobile learning and ubiquitous study systems, that take advantage of new information technologies. In particular, Benesse hopes to drive forward research in a number of key areas: study systems based on mobile phone networks; ubiquitous study environments that make use of wearable computers; educational environments that link digital broadcasting and other kinds of new broadcasting systems to the Internet; and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) that employ data mining technology.
