 Benesse Corporation today announced the appointment of Toru Noda as Corporate Senior Vice President of the company and Chairman of the Board and President; Director of Berlitz International, Inc. (BI), a wholly owned subsidiary based in New Jersey. Mr. Noda starts to take on his new responsibilities at the Benesse group on July 1, 2003.

A seasoned businessman with a strategic planning background in business development and overseas experiences in one of Japan's largest trading companys, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mr. Noda joins Benesse to enhance BI's global operations and bolster Benesse's language education programs and services. BI now offers language courses in 67 countries around the world and is a crucially important subsidiary of the Benesse group. Mr. Noda also assumes the position of the President of Benesse's Language Company, which includes BI. Prior to the appointment of Mr. Noda, Masayoshi Morimoto, Benesse's President and COO had concurrently been the President of the Language Company.
